Membership

 

Longmont Public Access Membership is available to the citizens of Longmont. Membership provides training, use of equipment, and the broadcast of programs produced by members to Comcast subscribers in Longmont and on Channel 8 website via online streaming.

 

Membership is a one-time $25 fee which includes training materials, periodic classes on video production, project organization, use of camera, audio, and lighting equipment, and editing using Adobe Premier Pro software.

 

Some members choose to produce programs, while other members contribute particular skills such as filming, audio/sound, still photography, interviewing techniques, voice over, editing, research, background music, graphical design, etc.  Members often work together on projects.

 

Equipment

 

Channel 8 provides for member use: 3 Canon XA 10 digital cameras which record to flash memory or SD cards and a Sony camera which records to mini DV tape. Members must provide their own mini tapes or SD cards. Additional equipment includes tripods, a variety of audio and lighting equipment and green screens. Equipment is available to members on a first come first serve sign up basis.

 

A Windows based computer with Adobe Premier Pro CS5.5 and DVD authoring software is available to members for editing and production purposes.  Editing Bay is available on a first come first serve sign up basis.  Members may use their own video and editing equipment for production purposes.

 

Programming

 

Members produce programs of interest to Longmont area viewers. Recent productions feature local artists, history, attractions, events, museums, non-profit programs, health and wellness, spirituality, farmers, naturalists, entrepreneurs, dance, music, and many more. Members own their own programs but give Channel 8 rights to air the program and share with other public television stations. Channel 8 is under FCC rules regarding ethics, scandal, libel, etc.  Tune in and see what our members have produced. DVD copies of member produced programs are available for check out at the Longmont Public Library and show at the Longmont Senior Center.

 

Public Access airs:

 

Mondays at 10PM            Wednesdays at 10AM                     Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 12 Noon
